Munich Creative Business Week: a portal to the future

From the 6th of March to the 14th of March, Munich got everyone connected to find out what the creative industry has to offer at the Munich Creative Business Week.

The theme of its 10th edition was ‘Shaping Futures by Design’ and technology played a big role in this year’s event.

Over 100 digital and hybrid design events happened combined with workshops, conferences, webinars, exhibitions and, of course, a whole lot of streams.

The video installation was designed exclusively for the event and projected  onto the facade of the University of Television and Film (HFF)

Our future is becoming more and more virtual. The corona pandemic is accelerating the digitization of this world. What effects does this development have on our learned social behaviour? How do we experience this world in which there is an ever-greater physical distance to colleagues, fellow human beings and family? 

The installation DIS CONNECTED questions the change in society with regard to virtual life in the present and in the future.

How will we live tomorrow – how do we learn, communicate, work? A question from every single person.


An open-air light installation placed in the middle of the West Lake.

Canvases float over the water for the video dance performance by Miro Craemer and texts by the lighting designer and artist Jan Kuck, who already lit up the Siegestor and the Isar during the MCBW last year. Art enthusiasts, families and walkers are invited to marvel, dance along and send in their heartfelt wishes on – the answers are then projected onto the water screen.

Young companies from areas such as architecture, interior design, green tech, healthcare, AI, fashion and sensor technology will be presented. All startups stand out for their design and innovative entrepreneurial approach.

The companies selected by bayern design clearly illustrate how design is used as a method, development environment and design tool by founders in all development phases.

The digital exhibition brings to light ecologically and socially designed products from the following start-ups: AMBILETICS, CAALA, ECOFARIO, FREISICHT, HYPERGANIC TECHNOLOGIES, KOMMOD, MARI & ANNE, NOJIN, OUTENTIC, PURAY, QWELLO, SAUSE, TACTERION, TJIKO and URBANDOO.
