The DJ, producer, and environmental toxicologist is one of Canada’s finest. Born and raised in the small town of Grand Forks, British Columbia, which is about 6 hours outside of Vancouver for those who have no idea where that is, Jayda grew up surrounded nature, amongst the mountains, forests, rivers, and lakes.
This is exactly what sparked her interest in biology, which lead her to pursuing a masters in Resource and Environmental Management, specialising in environmental toxicology. She did so in Vancouver, where she discovered city’s newly flourishing electronic music scene, dubbed the ‘Canadian Riviera’.
Since her debut album “Significant Changes”, released in 2019, she’s been on the rise and moved to London. Most recently, she has been nominated for a Grammy award for Best Dance Recording for her track Both of Us in November 2020.
Through her carefully curated sets, she sends a message, imbued within her music, which can be traced all the way back to her roots, the message being: take care for our planet.
Known for incorporating a variety of different elements which culminate in a refreshing take on house music, Jayda’s newest release, DJ-Kicks: Jayda G is an absolute pleasure to listen to. The mix takes you on a journey that moves through beloved classics, as well as new bubblers.
With her infectious energy, vitality, and boundless enthusiasm, it makes one feel the burning desire to get back to the sweaty dance floors, and groove to her music.
In the meantime, we’ll play some Jayda G, and hope to be dancing in a club instead of our living rooms soon!
